Göran Söllscher

Göran Söllscher ( born December 31, 1955 in Växjö ) is a Swedish classical guitarist.

Life

Göran Söllscher grew up in Kalmar and got seven years with guitar lessons. He attended from 1975 to 1977 the Conservatory in Malmö and from 1976 to 1979 the Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen. In 1978 he won one of the most prestigious guitar competitions of the time, the Concours International de Guitare in Paris and was then one of Deutsche Grammophon was offered a recording contract. With two exceptions Söllscher published in the sequence only when this label.

Since 1992 Söllscher member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, since 1993 he has been a professor at Lund University in Malmö.

Göran Söllscher studied with Per- Olof Johnson (1928-2000), who played, among others, a elfsaitige Altgitarre by Georg Bolin. Also Söllscher uses a elfsaitiges instrument, especially for baroque lute music.

Söllscher plays golf enthusiastic and shares this passion with David Russell ( " I think we have never said a word about the guitar talk. Contrast, we talked a lot about golf. " )
