History

The station was built by the north portal in 1882 following the opening of the Gotthard tunnel immediately to the north. He developed into a transportation hub, in 1917 Schöllenenbahn was connecting from Göschenen to Andermatt. MGB Station

The Matterhorn -Gotthard -Bahn provides two trains per hour to Andermatt, which run every hour each - to each other but in irregular 19/41-Takt. One of the pairs of trains each has in Göschenen via a connection to the Gotthard inter-regional, the other is led by a 15-minute stay in Andermatt over the Goms and Brig to Visp and offers in Andermatt connection to the regional train to Disentis.

Future

The construction of the NEAT Gotthard Base Tunnel, Bodio from Erstfeld to the majority of SBB trains will no longer operate via Göschenen. Therefore, the future of the mountain route is uncertain. However, a recording will be discussed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the time.
