Göteborgsvarvet

Göteborgsvarvet ( official spelling Göteborgsvarvet ) is a half marathon, which takes place annually in mid-May in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. It was first held in 1980.

To celebrate 25, 2004 there were 36 095 applications, about 30,000 runners started and 26 701 reached the target. In 2009, a record number of participants was set up with 53 848 applications and 40 523 runners at the finish. This Göteborgsvarvet is Europe's seventh largest running event and the world's second largest half marathon, after the Great North Run in Newcastle upon Tyne.

The run starts and ends at the Arena Slottskogsvallen and performs the Slottskogen, on the Älvsborgsbron on the island Rambergsvallen, along the Göta älvs, on the Göta älvbro and Kungsportsavenyn and Götaplatsen by Gothenburg's city center.
