Graham Windeatt

Graham Windeatt (* August 5, 1954 ) is a former Australian swimmer.

At a height of 1.87 m his competition weight was 78 kg.

Sporting successes

Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games

Graham Windeatts first international success he achieved in his only participation in the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 by winning the gold medal in the 1500 m freestyle. Two years later he won the silver medal over the same distance, where he was beaten only U.S. athlete Michael Burton in the target with a gap of just under 6 seconds at the Olympic Summer Games in Munich. Previously, he turned in the second intermediate race over this distance with 15:59,63 minutes meantime a new Olympic record, which was broken in the finals by Burton, however, again. About 400 m freestyle he just missed a medal with fourth place. In addition, he also took part in the competitions over 400 m medley and the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay.

With the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal in 1976, he went over 200 and 400m freestyle and in the 4 x 200 m freestyle relay at the start, but was not able to medal success of Munich.

World record in the 800 m freestyle

On April 3, 1971, he swam in Sydney 800 m freestyle in the time of 8:28,6 minutes, setting a world record that was broken until 8 September 1973 when his compatriot Stephen Holland.

Others

After the end of his athletic career, he founded the company Life Advantage, whose objective is to help people on the path to a healthy lifestyle by individual training programs.
