Grand Avenue (band)

Grand Avenue is a Danish indie rock band. At the international level enjoys their sound, reminiscent of the likes of U2, Simple Minds and New Order, growing in popularity.

Band History

The story of Grand Avenue begins in London. The four musicians Rasmus Walter Hansen ( lead singer and frontman ), Niels -Kristian Bærentzen (guitarist ), Marc Stebbing ( bass ) and Hjalte Thygesen ( drummer ) meet each other at the School of Music know. Soon they split up again, only Rasmus Walter Hansen is still a few years in London and tried there as a guitarist. It was only in 2001, he resumes contact with his friends who now live again in Copenhagen - shortly after Grand Avenue is born. Even though still in its infancy, the Danish radio stations interest already for their demo recordings. It is followed by a record deal with EMI. For the design of the album art of the graphic designer and brother of Rasmus Walter Hansen, Anders Hansen Walter comes to the rescue. Both the debut album " Grand Avenue " (2003) as well as the successor to "She" (2005) found in Danish rock fans great popularity. After two nominations at the Danish Music Awards, the band sees its chance at an international career.

The Irish sound engineer Richard Rainey, who has also won a Grammy for his work on "All That You Can not Leave Behind" U2 is brought as a producer on board. Finally created " The Outside ," which will be released as the first album and internationally.

As the opening act for George Michael Grand Avenue now raise their claim to their place in the international music business.

2007 to support Sunrise Avenue on their tour through Germany. Even with its own program, they were in the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Denmark and Switzerland on tour. My second single from the album "The Outside" is called " Bullet" and was released on April 4, 2008.

In 2009 Grand Avenue took on another album. Here they were again supported by Richard Rainey. The album was released on September 28, 2009, only in Denmark. Publication in other parts of Europe - among other things. the first single for Denmark was called " Almost Gone " in early 2010 - in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Greece, France.

Since 2009 Grand Avenue is in Denmark at the label Playground Music Scandinavia under contract. The Munich -based organizer KBK and also in the Bavarian capital Label Globe Attraction now want to establish in Germany the Danish band.
