Grand Duchess Alexandra Pavlovna of Russia

Alexandra Pavlovna Romanova, Grand Duchess of Russia (born 29 Julijul / August 9 1783greg in Saint Petersburg, .. † March 16 1801 in Vienna ) was a member of the House of Romanov -Holstein -Gottorp.

Life

Alexandra was the eldest daughter of Tsar Paul I of Russia (1754-1801) and his second wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna, Princess Sophie Dorothee of Württemberg (1759-1828), daughter of Duke Friedrich II Eugen and Princess Friederike Dorothea Sophia of Brandenburg- Schwedt.

On October 30, 1799 married Grand Duchess Alexandra in oven (now the Buda side of Budapest) the seven years his senior, Archduke Joseph Anton Johann of Austria and Palatine of Hungary ( 1776-1847 ), seventh son of Emperor Leopold II Roman Catholic from the house of Habsburg -Lorraine and the Infanta Maria Ludovica of Spain from the House of Bourbon. The young couple was warmly attached to each other and lived in Castle Alcsúth. But Alexandra died giving birth to her first child, Archduchess Alexandrine (* / † 1801), in Vienna.

Archduchess Alexandra and her daughter were in the orthodox chapel in Üröm, a suburb of Budapest, buried.
