Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia (. * 6 Augustjul / August 18 1819greg in the summer palace of Pavlovsk, . † 9 Februarjul / February 21 1876greg in Saint Petersburg.. ) Was the eldest daughter of Tsar Nicholas I Pavlovich of Russia and its wife Alexandra Fyodorovna, who had been born a Prussian Princess Charlotte.

Life

Although Maximilian de Beauharnais was not seen as a good match for a Tsarevna, but since Maria had announced that she would not get married if she could not stay in Russia, her father agreed to the marriage.

In 1852 the family was next to her title of " Bavarian dukes of Leuchtenberg ," which they had been awarded by the Bavarian King Maximilian I Joseph, assigned to the title of Prince or Princess Romanovsky. On July 14, 1839, she married in St. Petersburg Maximilian 3rd Duke of Leuchtenberg from the family Beauharnais. From the joint connecting seven children were born:
