Grand Duchy of Cracow

The Grand Duchy of Kraków arose when after the unsuccessful Kraków Uprising 1846, the Republic of Cracow was annexed on November 16, 1846 by Austria. The Emperor was thus until 1918 also Grand Duke of Cracow.

For administrative purposes the nominally separate countries Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, Grand Duchy of Krakow, Auschwitz and Duchy Duchy Zator were summarized as the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria with the Grand Duchy of Kraków and the duchies of Auschwitz and Zator. The Krakow region was within Galicia in 1849 the "circle Krakow", from 1850, the "Circle Krakow" as part of the " Administrative Region Krakow " as of 1867 " Cracow district ."

1847/48 was the Myslowitz Railway, opened the first railway Galicia.
