Grand Hotel (TV series)

Grand Hotel ( Original title: Gran Hotel) is a Spanish television series that was produced from 2011 to 2013 for the TV station Antena 3. The idea for the TV series came from Ramón Campos and Gema R. Neira. She plays in a grand hotel in the fictional town Cantaloa and is about an aristocratic family and their staff at the beginning of the 20th century. The first broadcast in Spain took place on October 4, 2011. In Germany the television series launched on 8 October 2013, the pay- TV channel Sony Entertainment Television.

The television series has received several Spanish television awards, including the Fotogramas de Plata. The film was shot at the Palacio de la Magdalena in Santander, Cantabria. Critics of the television series is often referred to as "Spanish Downton Abbey ".

Action

The television series is set in the fictional town Cantaloa in the luxurious Grand Hotel, the family home to the Hotel Dynasty Alarcón and revolves around the everyday life of the Alarcón family and their employees.

The bold and charming Julio Olmedo infiltrates as a waiter in the Grand Hotel to investigate the mysterious disappearance of his sister Cristina. During his investigations he is a plot of intrigue, love affairs and murders on the trail. He is also the picturesque Alicia Alarcón, the daughter of the hotel owner Javier Alarcón, closer, which is, however, already promised to the hotel magnate Diego Murquia to secure the family heritage. Alicia learns after some time of the true intentions of Julio, but decides to help him, even if it means going against her own family.

Broadcast

In Spain, the first season between October 4 and December 6, 2011 run. The premiere was watched by 3.72 million Spaniards. This brought the station Antena 3, a market share of 20 percent. The second season premiered on October 3, 2012 and ended its premiere on 21 November 2012. The third and last season was aired between 22 January and 25 June 2013. The audience moved in the first season on average 3.4 million, the second reached 2.81 million and the last moved 2.64 million viewers.

In Germany, the TV series had its premiere on the pay- TV channel Sony Entertainment Television. The transmitter radiated the first season between October 8 and November 5, 2013 in double episodes. The first five episodes of the second season was shown directly after the first. This ran on 5 November 2013 to 19 November 2013. The remaining episodes and third season are shown since 28 January 2014.

The rights on free TV the Disney Channel has secured, which broadcasts the series since February 4, 2014. The station will show the first season from February 4, 2014 in its evening program.
