Grand Slam of Eventing

The Grand Slam of Eventing ( in German: Grand Slam of Eventing Equestrian Sports) is sponsored by the watch manufacturer Rolex special price in eventing, has been issued since 1999.

To obtain the special price, the following tournaments, all as CCI 4 * advertised, be won in a row must be:

At the start of the Grand Slam of Eventing was endowed with $ 250,000. Currently (2010 ), the endowment of U.S. $ 350,000. For winning the prize, it is not relevant, starting with what victory. However, a particular difficulty arises from the fact that the tournaments in Lexington and Badminton will be held on two consecutive weekends, and thus must be regularly ridden with two different horses.

So far only winner of the special prize was Pippa Funnell. She won the CCI 4 * Lexington 2003 Primmore 's Pride, the CCI 4 * Badminton 2003 Supreme skirt and the CCI 4 * Burghley 2003 Primmore 's Pride. They thereby gained in addition to the regular prize money of U.S. $ 250,000.

Other riders who failed to win the Grand Slam of Eventing scarce, were:

  • Andrew Hoy: he won in 2006, the Kentucky Three Day Event ( with Master Monarch ), and the Badminton Horse Trials ( Moonfleet ), but missed at the Burghley Horse Trials 2006, nearly the victory and was with Moonfleet second.
  • Oliver Townend: Townend won the Badminton Horse Trials 2009 Flint Curtis and the Burghley Horse Trials 2009 Carousel Quest. The Kentucky Horse Trials 2010, he joined with Ashdale Cruise Master and ODT Master Rose. However, he fell with Ashdale Cruise Master on the cross-country course and was admitted to a hospital. He retired to broken ribs and a broken collarbone, so he (with whom he previously completed grounds that on the seventh rank ) could start in jumping on the next day no more with ODT Master Rose.

All three tournaments which are part of the Grand Slam of Eventing, since 2008, are also part of the newly HSBC FEI Classics.
