Granges- Paccot (? Freiburg Patois Gradzè Pako / i ) is a municipality in the District de la Sarine ( German: Sarine district) of the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Despite its location on the language border ( " rift "), the former German village name is no longer used to Stoke today.

Geography

Granges- Paccot is located on 620 m above sea level. M., 2.5 km northwest of the capital of the canton of Fribourg (air line). The village is located on a plateau west of the Sarine river trench and north of the valley of Lavapesson, on the northern outskirts of Freiburg, Freiburg Molassehügelland of the Central Plateau.

Economy

History

Mentioned in writing is the place in 1317 under the name Grangiarum, derived from the Late Latin word Grangia (barn ). The village belonged first to the Lords of Englisberg who owned a castle here. During the 13th century it came to the Lords of Billens and 1317 in the possession of the Civil Hospital of Freiburg.
