Granville Beynon

Granville Beynon ( born May 24, 1914 in Dunvant, Wales; † 11 March 1996 in Aberystwyth ) was one of the main organizers of the International Geophysical 1957 / 58th Against opposition he later sat by the successful European project EISCAT radar.

After completing his education from 1946 to 1958 at the University of Swansea, he taught from 1958 to 1991 as a professor at the University of Aberystwyth. Closely related to Edward Appleton, the discoverer of the ionosphere, he has held positions in major international projects: President of the International Union of Radio Science ( URSI ), 1972-75, by EISCAT, the "Year of the quiet sun." Beynon 1973 Fellow of the Royal Society. In 1976 he was knighted.

Beynon was married to Megan James since 1942, and they had two sons and a daughter.
