The Graureihersee, Upper Sorbian Čaplacy JĘZOR, is part of the Lusatian Lake District and is located on the Saxon side in the district of Bautzen southeast of the city Hoyerswerda and between the two larger lakes Knappensee and Silver Lake.

The area of ​​the lake is 138 acres. It was built on the site of the former opencast Werminghoff I, its flooding was completed in 2005. The lake is located in the immediate vicinity of the former briquette Knappenrode, today's Lusatian mining museum. Owes its name to the waters of the largest colony of gray herons in Germany, which in the immediate vicinity of the museum area - the lake - is resident space. The Graureihersee is part of the Lusatian Lakeland.
