Grayan-et-l'Hôpital

Grayan -et -l'Hôpital is a commune with 1256 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Gironde of the Aquitaine region. It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes de la Pointe du Medoc.

Geography

Grayan -et -l'Hôpital is north of the Médoc peninsula, in the Landes de Gascogne, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary of the rivers Garonne and Dordogne. The municipality comprises the main town Grayan -et -l'Hôpital and a number of small settlements. The distance to the southeast, Bordeaux is almost 90 kilometers. The monitored beaches on the Atlantic Ocean, on the Côte d' Argent are, about five kilometers from the center.

Immediate neighboring towns are in the north of Soulac -sur -Mer and Talais, to the east of Saint -Vivien -de- Medoc and in the south- east Vensac, as well as in the south- west by Vendays -Montalivet.

Economy and Transport

Grayan -et -l'Hôpital is a municipality in which is mainly the tourism of some importance. In the southwest of the township, the village Euronat is the largest naturist beach in Europe and a thalassotherapy center. Furthermore, there are just to the north of it, a very well-known, especially in Germany large campsite, Camping Municipal du Gurp, with about 1,000 seats.

Through the village runs the department of road D 101 The railway line Bordeaux - Le Verdon -sur -Mer, line 33 of the railway company TER Aquitaine connects the neighboring Soulac -sur -Mer, where the next station is, with Bordeaux. A few kilometers north is the airfield Soulac.
