From Eliot Tower at the highest point of the hill the city of Boston and many of the lower hills around the towns of Milton and Canton are seen.

The well-known Boston TV and radio station WGBH derives its acronym from the initial letters of the hill ( Great Blue Hill ), where their FM and TV transmitting antennas were. Today, the station only transmits radio signals from the Great Blue Hill, while the TV signals are sent from a higher tower since the 1960s.
