Great National Assembly

The Grand National Assembly (Romanian: Marea Adunare Naţională ). Was the legislature of Romania in the period from April 13, 1948 until the fall of Ceausescu on 22 December 1989 It was the successor of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, which had existed from 1919 to 1940. A free choice of the Grand National Assembly never took place. After the Romanian Revolution in December 1989, the National Assembly has been replaced by a bicameral, consisting of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.
