Greece national handball team

The Greek men's national handball team represents Greece in international tournaments in the men's handball.

World cup

In the Men's Handball World Championship 2005 in Portugal, the team finished sixth equal in their first appearance at a World Cup. For the Handball World Cup 2007 in Germany, Greece failed to qualify. In qualifying, the team failed in the play-offs to Poland. After a clear 27:22 in the first leg, had to get in the return match in Wroclaw beaten with 20:29 and thus narrowly missed the second World Cup. Also in the play-offs for the 2009 World Championship in Croatia, a failed despite a 32:31 second leg success against Spain for the first leg defeat 24:32. In qualifying for the World Cup 2011 in Sweden they lost again in the play-offs, this time clearly the German team.

Currently sat the Greek selection in the World Cup qualifiers in 2015 in a balanced group against Israel, Belgium and the Netherlands through and qualified for the play-offs in June 2014.

European

So far, the team could not qualify for a European Championship. In the play-offs for the European Championship finals in 2016, the team meets in early April 2014, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Olympic games

As the host of Greece was set automatically in Athens at the 2004 Olympic Games. After two wins in the group stage you failed in the quarterfinals to eventual winners Croatia and finished sixth.
