Greek A2 Basketball League

The A2 Ethniki (Greek Α2 Εθνική ) is a basketball league in Greece. After the A1 Ethniki, it is the second highest class in the country and consists of 14 teams.

History

Founded as the A2 Ethniki 1986. Was the first champion in 1987 Panellinios Athens went down in history. Until 1990, the top two teams were allowed to participate at the end of the regular season in addition to their promotion to the A1 Ethniki also to the play-offs for the national championship. With three titles are the two teams from Athens Sporting and Papagou record winner of the A2 Ethniki.

Game Mode

Each club playeth in a back - and second round against each of the other teams. After 26 days, the championship game is finished and follow any playoff games. The first two teams to rise to the highest Greek league on (A1 Ethniki ). The last three clubs in the table will be relegated to the B Ethniki. Case of a tie between two or more teams, the direct comparison decides.
