Greek Left

The Elliniki Aristera (Greek Ελληνική Αριστερά, Ellinikí Aristera, abbreviation Ε.ΑΡ. Greek Left ) was a Greek political party in the 1980s and 1990s. Having emerged as the successor to the Communist Party of Greece (domestic ), they represented a Euro -communist course.

After the Greek Left took together with the Communist Party of Greece (KKE ) in the electoral alliance Synaspismos, they were briefly involved in 1989 in a government with the conservative New Democracy party in order to escape the hitherto ruling Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou immunity and put him on trial to be able to. 1991 left the KKE, the Alliance, after which Synaspismos was founded as a party in the rose the Greek Left.
