Green Mountain Cog Railway

The Green Mountain Railway is a former railway company in Maine (United States). Your only route was a 1.83 km long train from Bar Harbor to the top of Green Mountain (now Cadillac Mountain) on Mount Desert Iceland, the largest island of the U.S. state of Maine. The railway was opened in 1883 and served mainly the connection of the hotel on the mountain top to the ferry terminal. Intermediate stations did not exist. The slope of the web was 30%. As in their model, the Mount Washington Cog Railway in New Hampshire, the unusual track gauge of 4 feet 8 inches ( 1422 mm) was used in the construction of the Green Mountain Railway.

In 1890 the railway was shut down and dismantled. Three years later the company was dissolved. The two 1883 built by Manchester Locomotive Works Steam locomotives of the railway in 1895 were sold to the Mount Washington Cog Railway, where they are still in use today.

A music group that is native to the island, now known as the web.
