Greeneville is a town in Greene County, Tennessee and the county seat ( county seat ). 2000, Greeneville 15.198 inhabitants who lived on an area of 36.4 km ². The city is the county seat of Greene County.
In November 1785 Greenville Jonesborough superseded as the capital of the short-lived State of Franklin until it again in 1788 and finally in 1796 came to North Carolina to Tennessee.
Andrew Johnson, a former U.S. president, grew up in Greeneville, the city was also known by the designation of a submarine of the Los Angeles-class Greeneville, the USS Greeneville (SSN -772 ).
Residing in the city are the Greeneville Astros, a rookie team of the Houston Astros in the Appalachian League, a minor league baseball, playing.
