Greg Errico

Greg Errico ( born September 1, 1946 in San Francisco, California) is an American musician and producer.

Life and work

Became known as a drummer Greg Errico in the initial formation of the soul / funk band Sly & the Family Stone, which he left in 1971 as the first. In September 1974 he joined David Bowie's band during the Diamond Dogs tour.

Later he played for bands like Weather Report, Santana and the Grateful Dead. In the early 1980s he worked as a drummer in the Jerry Garcia band. For a Betty Davis album he played with Larry Graham of Sly & The Family Stone, Tower of Power horn players in the section.

Errico lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and plays and continues to produce music. One of his projects was the production of Jamie David Big Band album. At the awards ceremony of the Grammy Awards in 2006, he played together with most of his former band members, a Sly & the Family Stone tribute. In recent years, he was the drummer of the newly formed Quicksilver Messenger Service.

Errico played at the Woodstock Festival and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
