Greg Monroe

Gregory Keith Monroe, Jr ( born June 4, 1990 in Harvey, Louisiana ) is an American basketball player. He plays in the NBA for the Detroit Pistons on the position of the center.

College

Monroe, who visited grew up in New Orleans Helen Cox HS. During his time at high school, he drew attention to himself by good performances and was elected team, among others in the McDonald 's All- American. He decided then to visit the Georgetown University and played, of course, for their basketball team the Hoyas. There he played an outstanding first season and was directly elected to the Big East Rookie of the Year. Nevertheless, the Hoyas did not reach the NCAA Tournament. In 2010 they reached the NCAA Tournament but dropped out in the first round against Ohio.

NBA

When NBA Draft 2010, he was drafted at # 7 out of the Detroit Pistons and on July 7, 2010, he signed his first NBA contract. On 30 January 2011 he set up a Career High with 17 rebounds and five days later, another Career High with 20 points. He finished his rookie season from 9.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and was the NBA All- Rookie Second Team appointed.

In his second year, Monroe greatly improved, scoring 15.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assits per game. And the following season were his stats with 16.0 points, 9.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists consistently good. However, Monroe could not reach the playoffs with the Pistons.
