Gregório Lopes

Gregorio Lopes (* 1490, † 1550 in Lisbon ) was a Portuguese painter.

Life

Lopes was court painter to the Portuguese kings Manuel I and John III. His most important work is a series of religious paintings for the pin in Tomar ( 1536-38 ). In addition, Lopes created portraits of many figures in the court. He was the most outstanding painter in Portugal 's Golden Age.
