Gregory Widen

Gregory C. Widen ( born November 30, 1958 in Los Angeles County) is an American screenwriter and film director.

Life

Widen was still a film student at UCLA when he created the script for the fantasy film Highlander (1986 ) sold. The film was a huge commercial success.

Early 1980s had Widen worked for three years as a firefighter in Southern California. He witnessed how a friend of a smoke gas explosion (English " backdraft " ) was killed. This experience became the basis for the screenplay of the 1991 film produced Backdraft, a drama firefighters.

Widens far only directing the supernatural thriller The Prophecy ( The Prophecy, 1995). The film, for the Widen also wrote the screenplay, is about the struggle of the angels for supremacy in the sky. The film was nominated for the Saturn Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films as the best horror movie of the year.
