Grigor III Pahlavuni

Gregory III. Pahlavuni was 1113-1166 Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church. He was the son of Prince Abirad Pahlavuni and nephew of Barsegh Pahlavuni. His brother was Bishop Nerses. The election of Gregory election was disputed, in consequence, the Catholicos of Aghtamar ( Ałt'amar ) split off and was therefore excommunicated 1114.

Gregor took only residence in Schugur, from 1125 Dzvok on Kharput lake on an estate of his father.

After the fall of Edessa in 1144, he sent an envoy to Pope Eugene III. , Whom he encountered in Viterbo.

1151 Gregor moved by Hromgla, at the invitation of Beatrice, the wife of Joscelin II of Edessa. After Bar Hebraeus he drove out the local castellan Michael, but he seems to have bought the romäische fortress later.

1166 he sat Nerses IV Šnorhali as a Coadjutor Catholicos and died soon after.
