Grigory Teplov

Grigory Nikolaevich Teplow (Russian Григорий Николаевич Теплов, scientific transliteration Grigorii Nikolaevich Teplov, born 20 Novemberjul / December 1 1711greg, .. .. † 30 Märzjul / April 10 1779greg in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian civil servant, writer and Composer.

Teplow was a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and secretary of the Empress Catherine the Great in St. Petersburg. He acted as a negotiator for the Anglo-Russian commercial treaty of 1766 and wrote numerous memoranda on trade liberalization. He also had a sound musical training and also acted publicly as a singer, harpsichordist and conductor.

In 1759 he published a collection of three-voice songs that was launched more than once. The compositions are substantially free of national- Russian influences and are geared to Western European works of his contemporaries.
