The forest is a mixed forest Grinder and up to 101 m above sea level. NN high ridge in the Hannover region and district of Nienburg / Weser in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Grinder forest is located in the northern part of the Nature Park Steinhude 33 km ( straight line ) northwest of downtown Hanover between Neustadt am Ruebenberge the southeast and Nienburg / Weser in the north- west. Among the countries along its border towns include Borstel, Hagen, Eilvese Schneeren, Bolsehle and Linsburg. In the Grinder forest are the sources among others, the Katzenbach, from Linsburger Bach, whose water flows northwestward through the Führser Mühlbach in the Weser, and the strand Bach, a southeastern tributary of Steinhude Bach. South of the Grinder forest lies the dead Moor.

The Grinder forest fringes the Federal Highway 6 to about 4 km in length; the heart of the national forest can only be achieved through forest trails. Due to the northern areas of the Grinder Forest leads the railway Bremen and Hannover, on the run and S- Bahn trains.

Geology

The Grinder is a forest Altmoränenplatte, which is caused by rubble and debris deposits in the Ice Age.
