Griselda Ãlvarez
Griselda Álvarez Ponce de León ( born April 5, 1913 in Guadalajara, † March 26, 2009 in Mexico City) was a Mexican writer and politician.
Life
Griselda Álvarez came from a Mexican politician family: her great-grandfather was the Mexican General Manuel Álvarez. Her father Miguel Álvarez García was a regional politician in Colima. Griselda Álvarez was also Senator of Jalisco in 1976 and 1979 with her election as Prime Minister of Colima, the first female president at the country level in Mexico. Although she was formerly a member of the PRI, so it supported up to her death, the demands of Andrés Manuel López Obrador ( PRD). She was awarded the Medalla del Senado de la Belisario Domínguez República 1996.
