Griva (Kilkis)

Griva (Greek Γρίβα ( f sg ) ) is a small village in the Greek region Central Macedonia. The village is located on the southeastern portion of the Massif Paiko to 470 meters above sea level. d level and belongs to the municipality Goumenissa the community Peonia.

Griva with 770 inhabitants, is the largest village in the district Goumenissa. The dominant religion of the village is Greek Orthodox, and the village is part of the Diocese of Goumenissa, Axioupoli and Polykastro to. ( Greek: Ιερά Μητρόπολη Γουμένισσας, Αξιουπόλεως και Πολυκάστρου ).

Due to the complete destruction of the village in 1912 during the First Balkan War by the Ottomans, there is no more existing structures that bear witness to earlier times.

The architecture of the village is the basic standard architecture for almost all the villages of the region, with narrow streets, small alleys between the buildings and the cottages that blend perfectly into the natural surroundings of the mountainside.

Griva belongs to the municipality Goumenissa and is located 72 kilometers north- west of Thessaloniki, 542 kilometers north of Athens and 23 kilometers north of Pella, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Macedonia.
