Groby is a village in the Borough of Hinckley and Bosworth in Leicestershire in the United Kingdom, with approximately 7300 inhabitants. The village is bordered to the northwest of the city of Leicester.
Geography
Groby is rich in granite reserves. Outside the settlement area is the Groby pool, landscaped in the early Middle Ages alkaline lake.
History
The Earl of Leicester maintained a castle in Groby, this was destroyed on the orders of Henry II in 1172.
