Great Garz is a municipality in the district of Stendal Zehrental in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Great Garz lies north of the state of Saxony- Anhalt to the county boundary to the Altmark Salzwedel.

History

Until December 31, 2009 United Garz was an independent municipality with the associated hamlets German, Haverland, Jeggel and Lindenberg and belonged to the now defunct administrative community Seehausen (Altmark ) on.

Through a field amendment agreement, the municipal councils of the municipalities Gollensdorf have ( on January 27, 2009 ) and the United Garz ( 19 January 2009 ) decided that their communities dissolved and merged into a new community with the name Zehrental. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

The Protestant Church of the United Garz is a medieval stone building in the core, developed from the early 13th century.

Transport links

Through the site, the link road leading from the highway 190 near Seehausen (Altmark ) to Schnackenburgallee in Lower Saxony. Most Garz Station is on the railway line Salzwedel - Geestgottberg.
