Most Karben station is located on kilometer 178.4 of the leading of Kassel Marburg and Giessen to Frankfurt Main- Weser Railway. History

With the opening of the stretch of the Main- Weser Railway from Frankfurt to the station Friedberg wholesale Karben went on 10 May 1850 in operation. The entire stretch of Main - Weser Railway between Kassel and Frankfurt is traversed since 15 May 1852.

On January 28, 1907, came at the Taunus wells immediately north of the station to a major railway accident with one dead and two seriously injured.

South of the station branches off in an easterly direction from an industrial siding to the present site of Continental Automotive Systems, which is no longer used today.

Reception building

The reception hall of the station, a traufständiges building with two storeys with risalitartigem transept, is the only area in the Wetterau, which dates from the time when the Main -Weser -Bahn and its original appearance was preserved. Operation

The wholesale Karbener station has today (2012 ) three platform tracks on two platforms (side and central platform ). He is approached exclusively from the S -Bahn line S6 S-Bahn Rhein- Main. The S- trains run on weekdays at 15- minute intervals from Friedberg and wholesale Karben about Bad Vilbel and the City Tunnel Frankfurt to Frankfurt South Station. Every second train begins and ends here in Great Karben. Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, as well as the weekday morning and evening hours, operate the S-trains at 30- minute intervals from Friedberg to Frankfurt Süd. Future

Between Frankfurt West and Friedberg, S -Bahn, regional, long-distance and freight traffic share the two tracks of the Main- Weser Railway. To equalize the operation, the route will be expanded in this area until probably 2016 in two sections to four tracks. In Bad Vilbel area is already planning permission for the major project.
