Großer Eutiner See

The Great Eutiner Lake is a lake in the Holstein Switzerland northeast of the city Eutin. It is 230 hectares in size, up to 17 m deep and is located about 26.7 m above sea level. NN. On the north side of the Seeschaarwald adjoins directly. In the separated by the Bebensundbrücke western part of the lake, the Fissauer Bay, flows its main tributary, the Schwentine, and a little further west again. For water walkers Schwentine is upriver navigable only to the Great Eutiner lake.

On the Eutiner lake are two islands: the pheasant island on which lie the origins of the settlement of that region, which has been a line of sight the target point of the former Baroque garden at Eutiner and now inhabited again and is privately owned, and the so-called Island of Love.

In the castle garden on the Great Lake Eutiner musical theater performances take place in the summer.
