Großer Labussee

The Great Labussee ( slaw labut = swan ) is located in the Mecklenburg Lakes in the Müritz National Park, about ten kilometers southwest of Neustrelitz between the villages and small Zwenzow Quassow. It belongs to the so-called other inland waterways of the Federal Quassower Havel, the one law to the Upper Havel waterway. Responsible is the Waterways and Shipping Office Eberswalde.

The lake has an approximately triangular shape. To the north there is a rd. 600 meters long channel connecting to the Useriner lake which is drained by the Havel. At the south end of this channel is the first lock of the Havel, the Zwenzower lock. The Havel himself runs from Useriner See on Useriner mill northeast of the Great Labussee to Klein Quassow and thence in an easterly direction as Quassower Havel as Woblitzsee. From the eastern shore of the Great Labussees combines a rd. 600 meters long channel of the lake with about 3 km long Quassower Havel and via the latter to the Upper Havel waterway.
