Großer Müllroser See

The Great Müllroser Lake is a lake between garbage rose in the north and in the south Mixdorf in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg. It is located in the Natural Park Schlaubetal and is the largest lake a number of lakes in this area.

In the south, near the dwelling place Seeschlößschen, opens the Schlaube into the lake. It flows through the Great Müllroser lake and situated in the north west, the connection to the Little Müllroser lake here, which is connected to the Oder- Spree Canal. On the eastern side of the lake there is a connection to Mouschenzsee, this is just south of Lake Catherine. In the southern part of the lake is a small island called Fischerwerdel, known locally as the Island of Love.

Fishing

The lake is popular with fishermen and anglers, there are stocks of eel, perch, bream, white bream, pike, carp, roach, tench, individual catfish and zander. Due to the soldiers of the former barracks of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, there was a stocking with grass carp, which are still found. From seasonal turbidity apart, the lake view has depths up to 2 m. Its depth averages 8 m, at certain places and 10 m and 12 m were measured with the sonar.

Fishing is permitted with fishing permits, boat hire is available in the resort.

Others

Although partially lying on the Schlaubemündung in the nature reserve, the lake may be used as a recreational area. There are each a beach on the east and on the west bank, both monitored by the Red Cross water rescue, shallow areas are divided. Parking is available sufficient as sanitary facilities and dining options. The fine sandy beaches fall off flat.

For sports and games are located on the western beach, a water slide and a diving board. On the eastern shore, there are, however, ample sunbathing areas with scattered trees, restaurants and guesthouses. Just south of it there is a campsite and associated bathing.

As a tradition, the Anbaden takes place in the lake on New Year's.

The north shore with its extensive promenade is used with a floating stage for concerts in the summer. The Seezauber and the fireworks over the Great Müllroser lake are popular cultural events in the region.

Marine traffic to waste rose with passenger ships and private boats is possible, avoid driving on the lake with boats has a long tradition and so there is in Mullrose also a sailing club.

The trail around the lake is about 9 km long, with the protection requirements of the Natural Park are observed.
