The Gruiten station is one of two railway stations in the city of Bergisch Haan. He is a contact station, as the railway line Dusseldorf - Elberfeld and the railway line Gruiten -Cologne- Deutz run through the station operationally separate. East of the station they lead to common route to the branch point Linden, where the actual beginning of the railway line Gruiten -Cologne- Deutz is located. To the west of the platforms, the tracks run separately to the west and south.
History
The railway station on the route Dusseldorf -Elberfeld was opened on 3rd September 1841 was under the name Haan ( Gruiten ) for many years the only station Haan. It was not until 1867, the line was completed to Cologne. 1907, the current Haaner station was opened, so that the station of the then independent town Gruiten in Gruiten has been renamed. In 1909 the still existing station building was built. From 1930 to 1952, prior to receiving building a trolley bus to Mettmann.
As part of the suburban railway opening in 1988 of the Gruitener station was substantially rebuilt. The platform to platform 1 was dismantled and the ramps to Kalkverladung were demolished. For this resulted in a large P & R car park. The tracks 2 and 3 have been moved and are now used as S- Bahn station. Track 4 serves as a track overhaul for the Cologne route. Is the platform for trains to Cologne on the tracks 5 and 6. Track 7 serves as overhaul track for freight trains.
Situation today
The train station is S 8, and from the Rhine - Wupper -Bahn and S -Bahn lines - approached S 68 the S- Bahn Rhein -Ruhr - in the rush hour. The station building has been completely refurbished in the 1990s; Today it houses a restaurant and the Gruitener city library.
In the forecourt of the station there is a taxi rank and a bus stop, with buses towards Mettmann, Haan and Wülfrath. In the course of some renaming of Deutsche Bahn to this station in the future bear the name Haan- Gruiten.
