Geography

Gruenbach am Schneeberg is located in the southern industrial district in Lower Austria about 8 km east of Puchberg am Schneeberg. The community is located at the foot of the southern end of the Hohe Wand; The area is part of the Northern Limestone Alps.

History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place told the eventful history of Austria.

The name Gruenbach has two parallel language developments, on the one hand by the name Grunebach in 1140, on the other hand of Gumplaha that developed by the year 1787 in the Josephine amended to Gruenbach and Gienplach in the Teresian version.
