Guangji Bridge (Chaozhou)

The Guangji Bridge (Chinese广 济 桥/广 济 桥, pinyin Guangji qiao, English Guangji Bridge ), also known by the name Xiangzi Bridge (Chinese湘 子 桥/湘 子 桥, pinyin Xianzi qiao, English Xiangzi Bridge ) is known, located to the east of Chaozhou City, east China's southern Guangdong province. It is one of the four famous ancient bridges in China. It spans over 800 years with a length of 518 meters, the river Han Jiang. She was the first opening bridge in the world, in which a portion of the river crossing ( the vessel traffic releasing section) was designed as a pontoon bridge. Its construction was completed in 1170 in the Southern Song Dynasty after a construction period of about 50 years. The bridge stands since 1988 on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 3-69 ), recent restoration work was completed in 2007.
