Guanyinyan Dam

The Guanyinyan Dam is an under construction gravity dam on the Jinsha Jiang 30 km southwest of Panzhihua on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces in the PRC. The dam is used for power generation and flood control. Construction began in 2008 and 2010, the river was diverted. The first generator is to be ready in 2015 and 2016 all the water power plant. Upon completion, the power plant will have a nominal capacity of 3000 MW, the five Francis turbines composed with one 600 - MW generator.

Building

The shut-off of Guanyinyan Dam is 159-168 m and 1158-1250 m in length ( different information ). Of these, 838 m a rolled concrete gravity dam and a 320 m up to 71 m high rockfill dam. The top of the building is located at 1141 m above sea level. The power station is at the wall base. There is also a spillway with three overflows and two outlet ports.

8810 people have to be relocated for the dam.
