Guardbridge

Guard Bridge is a village in the northeast of the Scottish Unitary Authority Fife. It lies at the mouth of the River Eden in the North Sea, about five kilometers north- west of St Andrews and 15 kilometers south-southeast of Dundee. In 2001, Guard Bridge counted 627 inhabitants.

In the 15th century the Bishop of St. Andrews built a bridge over the Eden, developed Guard Bridge at the venue. Supposedly gathered there, the pilgrims in the Middle Ages before the last stretch to St. Andrews. In Guard Bridge today crosses the A91 to Eden.

From 1810 on Guard Bridge was the site of a nationally significant whiskey distillery called Seggie. However, this was closed again in 1860. The building was converted to a paper mill, which started operations in 1873.
