Guarulhos is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It has 1,176,804 inhabitants ( 2010) on an area of ​​318.014 km ². The population density is 4022.47 inhabitants / km ². Guarulhos is part of the agglomeration of São Paulo and is bordered to the south and west by the city of São Paulo, on the north by Mairiporã Nazaré Paulista and Santa Isabel and on the east by Arujá and Itaquaquecetuba. The name comes from the Tupi language. In the city there is the Universidade Guarulhos, a nationally recognized university.

In the area of ​​town is the international airport of São Paulo, São Paulo Guarulhos Airport (GRU ), the largest in South America.
