Guelph

Guelph [ ˌ gwɛlf ] is a Canadian city in Southwestern Ontario. It is located about 100 km southwest of Toronto and has 121,688 inhabitants ( 2011). Guelph is the seat of administrative space Wellington County, but the city is politically independent in many ways from the County.

History

Guelph was one of the first planned settlements in Canada and was founded on 23 April 1827 by John Galt as the headquarters of the Canada Company, a UK company.
