Guennady Moisseev

Gennadi Anatoljevich Moiseyev (Russian Геннадий Анатольевич Моисеев, scientific transliteration Gennady Moiseev Anatol'evič, also Guennady Moisseev; born February 3, 1948 in Leningrad Oblast, Soviet Union) is a former Soviet motocross riders.

Moisseejew spent his childhood in Wwedenskoje, a village near Wyriza in the Leningrad Oblast. At the age of 13 he sat for the first time on a motorcycle. In the motocross division of the Zhdanov Pioneer Palace in Leningrad 57 km away, the young Moiseyev trained his skills. In nearby Pushkin, he began an apprenticeship as an electrician.

In 1966 he won the bronze medal of the national championship of the USSR in motocross with 175 cc. After this success, he was inducted into the Soviet Motocross selection for international competitions. In 1967, he first participated in a World Cup competition in southwestern Russia Belgorod. However, the zenith of his career reached Moiseyev only in the 1970s. In 1974 he was motocross world champion with 250 cc on a machine from the Austrian manufacturer KTM. 1977 and 1978 he was able to repeat this success. For political reasons, was then asked of him to switch to a machine manufacturer CZ from the socialist Czechoslovakia. From then on he could not go on from his previous successes.

After ending his active career, he worked as a coach and physical education teacher. In the 2000s, he was temporarily President of the Russian Motorcycling Federation.

Moiseyev is married.
