Guglielmo Stendardo

Guglielmo Stendardo (born 6 May 1981 in Naples, Italy) is an Italian football player. His younger brother Mariano is also a professional football player.

Career

In the club

Guglielmo Stendardo started his career together with his brother Mariano in the youth department of SSC Napoli. On 16 May 1998, he celebrated the 2-2 draw against AS Bari his Serie A debut. For the 1998/99 season he moved to Sampdoria, increased with the club, however, in the first season in Serie B from. In Genoa Stendardo played until 2003, he completed a total of 33 league appearances for Samp. The second half of the 2002/03 season he spent on loan at Salernitana Sport, 2003/ 04 he was loaned to Calcio Catania. The 2004/05 season played Stendardo for AC Perugia.

When the Umbrian club was disbanded in the summer of 2005 after financial problems, Gugliemlo Stendardo moved to Lazio in the Serie A. In the first year under coach Delio Rossi, he completed 18 Serie A games, 2006/07 he came to 21 inserts. In the 2007/ 08 season Stendardo started due to the injuries suffered by his defender Sebastiano Siviglia and colleagues Mobido Diakité as a regular player and demonstrated good performance.

In December 2007, Stendardo fell out with Lazio coach Rossi after he had not been in the games against Real Madrid and Juventus in the grid, and called for an immediate transfer. That's why he joined in January 2008 on loan for the rest of the season to Juventus. As part of this transfer was agreed that the Juve could weiterverpflichten him in the summer for about 12 million euros. With this relatively high price Lazio president Claudio Lotito wanted to make sure that Stendardo return in the summer to Rome, and succeeded him.

In summer 2008, Guglielmo Stendardo was awarded for a year at the newly promoted Serie A U.S. Lecce.

In the National Team

Guglielmo Stendardo completed a total of 21 youth caps for Italy. In the national team he was not yet used.
