Guido Carli

Guido Carli ( born March 28, 1914 in Brescia, † April 23, 1993 in Rome ) was an Italian economist and politician.

Life

From 1958 to 1959 Guido Carli was Minister of Trade and 1960-1975 Governor of the Bank of Italy ( Banca d' Italia ). After he had held office from 1976 to 1980 as President of the Italian Industrialists ( Confindustria ), In 1989 he became Chancellor of the Exchequer. This office he held until 1992.

Since 1978 until his death he was president of the Free University of Social Studies ( Libera Università degli studi sociali internazionale " Guido Carli ", LUISS ) in Rome, which is now named after him.
