Guido Sacconi

Guido Sacconi ( born June 23, 1948 in Udine ) is an Italian politician ( Left Democrats, since 2007 Partito Democratico ) and since 1999 a member of the European Parliament in the Group of the Party of European Socialists.

Life

Sacconi completed until 1967 studying philosophy at the University of Florence. He was from 1975 a member of the Provincial Secretariat and from 1978 of the General Secretariat of the metal workers' union FIOM. From 1990, he was Secretary General of the Chamber of Labour and Florence until 1992, the Federation of Trade Unions CGIL Regional Secretary in Tuscany. In that year he became Regional Secretary of the Democrats of the Left in Tuscany. In 1995 he became a member of the regional parliament of Tuscany, which he was Vice-Chairman in 1998. In 1999, Sacconi moved into the European Parliament.

Policy

In the European Parliament is Sacconi Chairman of the Temporary Committee on Climate Change, and a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and Substitute Member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development. He is also a member of the Delegation for relations with the People's Republic of China and Deputy Member of the Delegation for relations with the countries of South Eastern Europe. By 2006 he was the European Parliament Rapporteur for the REACH Regulation, a comprehensive revision of the European chemicals legislation.
