Guildo loves you! was the German contribution of the Euro Vision Song Contest 1998 which was presented by Guildo Horn & The orthopedic stockings. The song could reach the 7th Place and secure 86 points.

Was composed the song by Stefan Raab, who published the song under the pseudonym Alf Igel. This name is a parodic allusion to Ralph Siegel. The production was the song of Stefan Raab and Michael Holm.

Content

Guildo horn sings a love letter to his fans, he cheers them up in bad times. He tells of a beautiful past time full of love and of his " little world ", in which people are kind and honest to each other.

Background information

Even before the participation of Guildo Horn at Euro Vision Song Contest presented the Bild-Zeitung following question:

"Can this man sing for Germany? "

The press reported largely negative about the involvement of Guildo Horn and thus gave him a big media attention. On 26 February 1998 decided during the preliminary of the Euro Vision Song Contest 60 % of the vote for the song Guildo loves you.

Ralph Siegel, who was parodied by Stefan Raab, also took part with three titles and three different artists at the preliminary decision.

The weekly show parodied the song with a Guido Westerwelle Guido version called Squirrel - Guido loves you.

Euro Vision Song Contest Results

Awarding points for Germany:

Due to a transmission error, awarded by Spain to Germany 12 points were not initially considered in the overall standings. The error was later corrected by the BBC, so that the song could have a place of 8 to improve to 7.
