Gunther Tiersch

Gunther Tiersch ( born April 30, 1954 in Ratzeburg ) is a German meteorologist and one of the youngest German gold medal winner at the Olympic Games ( Rowing ). A wide audience, he is known as a meteorologist on duty the weather forecast following the TV newscasts today and heute-journal.

Tiersch won in 1968 at the age of 14 years at the helm of the " Ratzeburg rowing eight " at the German Championships and won at the Olympic Summer Games 1968 in Mexico City with the Germany eighth, ahead of Australia and the Soviet Union the gold medal. After the Olympic victory of Germany was eighth elected by the sports journalists Team of the Year 1968. The youth magazine Bravo published his reports from this period in a separate row. Later he studied at the Technical University of Berlin and received his doctorate on the subject of the determination of the actual evapotranspiration of agricultural crops stocks using micrometeorological methods.
