Gurgel Motores was a great Brazilian automobile producer in 1963 to 1994.

History

João Augusto Conrado do Amaral Gurgel (1926-2009) founded on September 1, 1969 in São Paulo 's throats Motores Ltda. He fulfilled her dream to establish a new automotive brand in Brazil. Under the brand throat he first brought small motorized vehicles for children on the market. These were very popular and were even able to get a street legal.

In the 1970s throat brought out the first vehicles for the adult audience. Even with these models he achieved great success. His models were exported to more than ten countries already in the first years. In the 1980s, the company ran into difficulties due to the economic crisis in financial difficulties and could exist in the end only through financial support of the state further. The last cash injection received Gurgel, 1991; he could still get the work order until early 1994 alive. Thereafter the work of him was closed.

The founder throat was from 1949 to 1953 formed at the General Motors Institute in Detroit, with qualifications as an electrician and mechanical engineer.
